Exercise Physiologist & Performance Coach

Hi, I'm Ian Hosten

A sport scientist passionate about bridging the gap between research and real-world coaching.

My academic journey began at Ghent University, where I earned a degree in Physical Education with a specialization in Training and Coaching. During this time, I developed a strong foundation in both endurance and strength training, complemented by an additional certification as a cycling coach. My master's thesis focused on the quantification of training load in combined strength and endurance training, combining scientific methodology with practical coaching applications.

Driven by an interest in data-driven performance optimization, I continued my education with an Advanced Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics at Howest University of Applied Sciences. This expanded my expertise in data analytics, database management, programming, and web application development. Skills that allow me to translate complex data into actionable insights.

Today, I work as a researcher in exercise physiology at Ghent University while coaching athletes across all performance levels, from professional cyclists to recreational athletes striving to improve their health and performance.

Whether conducting research or designing training programs, my philosophy remains the same: combine scientific evidence with practical experience to deliver meaningful results.

If you're looking for evidence-based coaching, scientific collaboration, or performance consulting, I'd be happy to hear from you.
